Some ways open-source devs can make money

The amount of money you can make from open source code depends on several factors. First of all, the popularity of your open source project plays a significant role that determining your possible revenue. On top of that, adoption and credibility play an essential role. Credibility can be expressed in various ways. How fast do you respond to new issues? Do you frequently maintain the code? It’s unlikely that an infrequently maintained project will receive a lot of adoption. Therefore, monetization chances will be lower. However, there are plenty of monetization options you can employ — even for projects with low adoption. Here are four methods you can employ: 1. Software as a Service An open source project that has generated plenty of demand can choose to offer a Software as a Service (SaaS) business model. This model is most viable for projects that offer a complete application, such as a publishing platform, monitoring tool, or marketing automation tool. Developers can choose to...

Why am still using windows 10 in 2022?

Image
Since the launch of Windows 11 in 2021, there has been a huge push to upgrade from Windows 10 for compatible PCs. With the new OS now available on select devices — and rolling out at a quicker pace than Microsoft expected — the reasons to stay on Window 10 must be really outstanding. Lets see some benefits window 10 has over Windows 11. Bugs Windows 10 has been around for five years. With that in mind, you can expect Windows 1 0  to have  little bug issues  and  that contributes to the performance of your system. Also to note Windows 10 has been very stable throughout the years.   Compatibility with most machines; Windows 11 is a lot fussier in terms of system requirements compared to Windows 10. This is because of the numerous requirements put in place before install which have restricted many users like me from upgrading to Windows 11. Further still, the financial constraint especially purchasing a new PC that meets the requirements.   Microsoft suppo...

Image
So Evernote recently made adjustments to their plans, bringing new rates of $7.99, $9.99 and $14.99.  At a glance everyone has where they fit, even though the prices seem a bit high. Personally I have been a user of the free plan since 2010, and  believe those who can't afford the new rates can maximize this to do more. So basically the free plans offers a 60MB monthly upload, 25MB maximum note size and a sync for 2 devices. The free plan still gets the job done allowing users to take notes and organise them in notebooks. However to get all the benefits of the this plan, there is need to make adjustments to useability for it to feel comfortable. 1. Limit attachments As mentioned in the plan, there is a limit of 60MB upload, so there is need to upload only small sizes docs. This will help you ensure that more is uploaded within this plan. There are different tools one can use to resize documents, pdfs and photos. 2. Take more notes and lessen on attachm...
